With a timber flush window, the sash is flush with the frame externally, offering clean lines that complement new build properties and homes in a Conservation area, including listed buildings.

Our timber windows are fitted with modern double glazing and double weather seals, which ensures they achieve a U-Value of 1.4 W/m²K, helping to keep your home warm and reduce energy bills.

Timber Lipped Casement Windows

The lipped casement window, also known as a storm-proof design, is one of the most popular styles of window in the UK, featuring a sash that overlaps the frame.

Bereco timber lipped casement windows installed by Chiltern Doors, include a decorative edge on the opening sash to soften their appearance. They are available in two different profiles with either pencil round or ovolo mouldings, making them suitable for both modern and traditional properties. They are fitted with high quality weather seals, offering exceptional draught-proofing and weather performance all-year-long.

Timber Sliding Sash Windows

Timber Sliding Sash Windows date back to the 17th century.

While they are often seen in Victorian Townhouses or Georgian terraces, they remain a popular choice for new-build homes and refurbishment projects across the UK.

A sliding sash window operates by allowing the sashes to move vertically within the frame, using either traditional cords and weights or low maintenance, modern spiral balances for smooth, effortless operation.

Our timber sliding sash windows feature slim frames and can include Georgian bars on the glass panels for a classic look. For added flexibility, you can also choose from seven styles of sash horn and a deep bottom rail, to perfectly complement your preferred design.

FAQs

What is the difference between hardwood and softwood?

Our Softwood windows are manufactured using laminated Scandinavian Pine with either a clear or finger jointed surface. Hardwood Windows are manufactured using laminated Dark Red Meranti with a clear surface.

We use Engineered or multi-layered timber for our timber flush windows, casement windows and sliding sash windows. This will reduce the effects of warping and twisting to ensure your windows remain in good condition for many years to come.

How to maintain timber windows

Our timber windows are designed to last over 60 years, providing they are regularly maintained. We recommend that the inside and outside of the glass and frames of your timber windows are cleaned every six months, and that you check that the windows open and close freely.

Every twelve months, all moving parts should be lubricated, and all external seals should be checked and repaired as required.

Do your timber windows offer noise reduction?

Yes. Our timber windows have a range of impressive sound reduction ratings, from 33dB to 42dB, making them the ideal choice for homes close to the road, airport, or railway.
