Thermally efficient flat roof windows

The flat roof windows installed by Chiltern Doors achieve excellent U-Values when coupled with either laminated double glazing or triple glazing. You can choose between clear, a stylish blue tint or neutral glass, depending on the overall aesthetics you would prefer to match your interior decor and style.

If you are going to fit your roof window in a South facing area of your home, you have the option of choosing glass with a higher solar heat reflection percentage, to reduce light transmission through the glass and prevent your room overheating. Whereas in a North facing room which receives less direct sunlight, clear glazing will allow particles of light to pass through the glass, brightening the room to help maximise light and warmth.

What is a glass roof light?

A special coating applied to the glass breaks down organic dirt, reducing the ability of other dirt particles to stick to the surface. When it rains, water spreads evenly across the glass rather than forming droplets. This thin sheet of water then washes away the loosened dirt as it runs off.

House is south facing what glass is best for a flat roof light?

For a South-facing flat roof light, the best glass type is solar control glass. The higher the solar heat reflection, the more control you have over room ambience during changes in seasonal weather temperatures.
